July 2007: Hot and fresh out the kitchen

There is a lot of great news to report. The first being, Dote is happy to announce that Young Rival have joined the management roster. More on that in a moment...

We presented a showcase for NXNE which included performances by all of the bands and DJing by Fourtet and Koushik. It was basically the best night and show of our lives. You can view photos from the show here and here.

BORN RUFFIANS – myspace.com/bornruffians

The band is just finishing work on their new record, which will be released in early 2008. In the meantime, you can catch them at some festivals this summer (Hillside and Wolfe Island) and on a massive tour with Caribou this fall that will take them throughout the US and Canada. Full dates are posted on their myspace page. You'll hear lots of new songs at these shows and we think you're going to love them!

Also, Luke lends his voice to a Four Tet remix of a new Caribou song called "Melody Day." The remix also features Adem and One Little Plane. You can purchase the remix directly from Merge.

JUNIOR BOYS – myspace.com/juniorboys

There are a few shows left this summer and then the Junior Boys will be taking a break from a year of non-stop touring to work on a new record. Jeremy talks about the new record in this interview with Pitchfork. If you don't yet have the deluxe edition of So This Is Goodbye, featuring a bonus disc with remixes of JB tracks by Hot Chip, Kode 9 and some bonus tracks, you can order it here.

After finishing off dates with Born Ruffians and Tokyo Police Club, the boys headed over to the UK for the Great Escape Festival. They were hand picked for NME's Canadian Blast sampler and played a well received show in London with Au Revoir Simone. Since then, the guys have been working on their new record which they will record in the fall. If you're interested in picking up the EP, which has now been released for the maybe the fifth or sixth time (though, this time features mastering and special artwork), you can order it through MapleMusic.com.

The newest band to the roster is a busy one! They're playing a handful of festivals this summer (Wolfe Island, SCENE, Festival of Friends) and will be heading to New York in August for two shows. They're playing August 9th at Pianos and on the 10th supporting Tokyo Police Club at the Bowery Ballroom. If you pop over to their myspace, you can hear some of their new demos.

Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid are playing dates throughout the Summer and into the Fall. Full dates are posted on their myspace page. Their recent shows in Toronto and New York were amazing so we definitely recommend not missing these dates.

The new record is brilliant. It comes out on August 21^st in North America via Merge and the day before in Europe through City Slang.

Go and listen to “Wheelpusher.” It’s one of our favourite songs at the moment. Her new record is wonderful.
